I am a self-taught artist born in Prague, living and working in my studio in Berlin. After completing my studies in German Literature and Education, I devoted myself to artistic practice.
I work with acrylics, oils, and mixed media, primarily on canvas and paper. I also create charcoal drawings on handmade mulberry paper. My work focuses on colour, materiality, and spatial perception.
My works emerge from a direct and often impulsive process. I experiment with layers, structures, and contrasts, exploring the transitions between control and chance, form and dissolution, stillness and movement.
I regard my self-taught approach not as a limitation, but as a strength. It allows me to explore, fail, and discover new paths free from academic conventions. Over time, I have developed my own visual language beyond institutional frameworks. Intuition, experimentation, and a dialogue with chance are central to my artistic process. “
An academic approach that has lost all mystery and drama is a trap.” (Frank Stella)
My work has been exhibited in a variety of contexts.
I am member of the artists’ collective “Les Montmartrois en Europe”.
Signed One-of-One Pieces / wearable art
Since 2021, I have developed a distinctive series of hand-painted bags. The Laura Lassa designs function as wearable works of art. Each piece is unique and comes with artistic provenance and a certificate of authenticity. In keeping with my commitment to sustainability, some of these works are created through the upcycling of vintage materials.
